Leaning from home has been hard on my students. They are learning new content, new online systems and are trying to keep strong connections with their peers.
Book clubs are a way for students to connect and learn socially!
Students are placed in book clubs based on their independent reading level, so that we know they will be successful. We meet as groups every day to connect, work on assignments and talk about their book. Once a week, each group also meets with me so I am able to check in and monitor progress.
We are close to finishing our first book club! The fifth graders are loving reading great books and having the opportunity to share this passion with their friends. We are about ready to wrap up realistic fiction and start a new science fiction book club. That is where I need your help.
Lastly, we are getting close to moving into a hybrid model of learning, where the students will be in the building part time. Students will need individual supply boxes at school since they will not be able to share materials. I am hoping to provide matching pencil boxes for all of my students so they can keep their materials organized.
Please help me keep our fifth graders engaged in reading and organized back in the classroom!
