High school students create bowls thrown on the pottery wheel to benefit local food banks. Students will learn how to properly throw a bowl on the wheel and then donate their projects to the "Empty Bowls" fundraiser.
Empty Bowls was designed to raise awareness about the problem of hunger in our nation and as well as in our local communities. These luncheons typically offer a simple fare of soup and bread and often feature the work of local artists who have donated works themed around the Empty Bowl Concept.
This project has motivated students to give back to the community and take pride in their work. They are learning that art can make a difference.
