It can be a struggle sometimes to engage or motivate students to read in class, let alone independently. Having the interest and the enthusiasm from a diverse range of students is exciting, motivating and shows me how hungry my students are to find themselves in the world.
By giving my students a nice, clean space with some amazing books to read, beanbags to sit on, a tea/coffee machine to make some drinks, lights to jazz up the room and create a "coffee shop" style kind of space it will ensure they remain inspired and enthusiastic.
Reading independently will help my students to broaden their horizons, open their minds, explore new worlds, and help guide them to where they want to be by honing their literacy skills both in and out of the classroom!
Teenagers who are motivated is an exciting prospect, especially teenagers who WANT to drag themselves away from electronics and engage in the world of reading.
