Last basketball season was our first year at our high school to have a varsity basketball program. We are a small public inner city school, but we are forced to play in large 6A basketball district due to the magnet school rules in HISD. Last season our team's record was 0-19, we did not win a single game. The entire team showed outstanding strength of character, never complaining, giving up, or ever giving any less effort regardless of the outcome on the scoreboard. The boys showed back up every day ready to work and continually got better.
At this start of this new basketball season, the boys are already working hard every day and are ready to come out this year and really make some noise. We are hoping to really change the culture of our athletics program on campus, and I could not be more proud the commitment to detail and growth that the boys have already been showing in the off-season. The majority of our in district opponents all have matching team gear (shoes included), and I truly believe that getting the varsity boys team shoes will go a long way in helping feel that we really belong in this league.
