My students all receive special education services in math. They benefit from using manipulatives to visualize and understand complex mathematical concepts. Students will be using these materials at home and at school.
Each student will have their own manipulatives to use to gain mathematical knowledge and confidence. Students will use the magnetic ten frames to make a 10. They will be able to hold their boards up for me to check for understanding either through the computer or from a distance within the classroom. Base 10 blocks will help facilitate an understanding of place value that will help students to add and subtract multi-digit numbers with and without regrouping. Students will use the counters to build arrays and equal groups, learning the basics of multiplication and division. Rulers will allow students to be able to practice measuring common objects within their homes or school.
