The materials and supplies that I am requesting for my students are going to help them develop in basic arithmetic skills with understanding the number sense. My students are 8th graders but they have Specific Learning Disabilities in the areas of reading comprehension and basic mathematical concepts in problem-solving tasks which impacts their learning. To support my students, I want to provide visual representations such as manipulative tools and modeling an explicit direct instruction using the whiteboards. Using the number lines and graphing boards would support their understanding conceptually and effectively. When I facilitate the group activity or discussion, the Small-Group Teaching Easel will help my students to focus on task since some of my students have attention deficits. A few of my students need improvement in writing clearly and legibly when working on assignments, so they will benefit from doing the 3-5 minutes Warm-Up using the Printing Number Practice Book.
The donations to this project will support my students' conceptual understanding of mathematical ideas, maximize active engagements in learning, and make sense of the learning through the visual representation.
I love when students get excited about learning. My students will get motivated by learning through these supplies and materials. My students are working very hard to achieve their learning goals. I already can see how they would work with these materials with smiles on their face! This support will help my students increase their academic achievement.
