Teaching at an urban school in Los Angeles, I discovered my students are in need of basic supplies that are used daily in a classroom. Providing them with these supplies open many opportunities for activities and learning that could occur in our classroom. For example, using post it notes to annotate books will help my students dive into novels, determine figurative meanings, mark interesting perspectives, and many more things. My students will use scissors to complete hands on integrative activities combining multiple subjects. These are just a few examples in addition to many more needed supplies such as pencils and erasers.
