The best way to help students fall in the love with reading is to provide them with books that they are interested in. For the past four months I have learned my students’ interests and what kind of books they like. I have even personally asked each student their favorite books. I am a first year teacher so my classroom library doesn’t have the variety of books that I wish I would have been able to provide. We call my classroom library “The Book Nook” and it’s honestly most of my students’ favorite spot. They take care of my books and straighten up The Book Nook every day. Many trips to Goodwill have made up my classroom library so of course there is some wear and tear to these books, yet my students are still thankful for the books. I know that my students would be exstatic to receive new books just for them! They have already shown a love for reading and I would love to encourage them and help them grow stronger in Reading.
