Despite difficulties at home, at school or on the streets, my students are amazing: they come to school with remarkable attendance, and show up ready to learn. Our students make an effort to involve themselves in curriculum that they often do not feel is pertinent to their lives.
Our school is a public high school that serves over-aged, under-credited students in an effort to help get them on track to graduation and post-secondary education. Over 90% of our students qualify for free or reduced-price lunch. Students in our school have struggled in more traditional environments, and have opted, despite their circumstances, to return to school to earn their diplomas.
