Math! Math! We love Math! And as a teacher I want to keep the passion with my students. Most elementary teachers have a passion for reading. While, yes, reading is important, I think math is just as important. I have spent 4 years at my school making math fun and engaging for the students as an interventionist. I, myself, struggled with the subject, but when I started teaching it I had many "a-ha" moments. This fluency kit will help my students keep their confidence high and their love for the subject. Just recently, I did a math project with them and they were bursting with joy saying "I love real math!"
Since we are displaced and not in our own learning environment, it is really hard to teach math like we would back at our own school. I do not have access to a projector, and my room is so small that the kids are sitting on the floor since the tables don't fit. I've had to become creative and teach math differently than how I would back at school. Since I'm not able to effectively teach the units in our textbook, I'm focusing on fluency and teaching math through rotating stations. This kit would work perfectly for this. I would even love for all my colleagues to have one as well.
