Several of these picture books, such as The Bad Seed, Two Bad Ants, and Those Shoes will be used to teach the literary skills of theme, inference, and story elements. These highly engaging stories will create an exciting forum for class discussion, allowing the students to share new ideas with each other. The books will give my students access to highly engaging reading material. The novels, such as The War That Saved My Life, will be used in small-group reading, providing my students with well written, curriculum related material. This daily reading allows them to practice reading, gain insight into new ideas, and increase reading fluency.
