I believe that for a child to master a pencil, they must first master their own body. My practice focuses on sensorimotor integration—the vital process of helping the brain organize sensory information. By establishing physical confidence and a sense of "bodily safety," we create the neurological foundation for academic success. Movement is a primary tool for self-regulation. A student’s ability to attend to a lesson is not merely "willpower"; it is a product of a regulated nervous system. Activities like pushing, pulling, or jumping provide proprioceptive input, acting as a "biological equalizer" to calm an overstimulated child or alert a lethargic one. This input increases blood flow to the brain, improving focus, impulse control, and memory. When sensory needs are met, students can filter out distractions and remain fully engaged with academic tasks.
