The resources I chose for our class project is a 3D printer and PLA thermoplastic so students can use engineering standard 3D modeling software to creatively design a solution to the Asian Carp problem in our community.
This type of project will hopefully build relationships between our high school students and our local professionals by enabling the students to present their 3D printed design solutions to local industry professionals.
These materials will make a difference in students' learning by enabling them to take their design from concept to reality. They will determine which design most closely solves the problem based on our class research and develop it into a testable model.
This project will encourage students to pursue higher level courses in math, science, and technology, and math while in high school and increase interest in pursuing post-secondary education in these high demand fields.
