I am requesting literature materials for math workshop. More specificaly mini lesson, this is the intro to our daily math topic. In our district we are using the workshop model. I teach a 15 to 20 minute mini lesson based on the common core standards for mathematics. Next students are placed in their groups where they then rotate through four stations to practice their math skills. These math stories will be used in our classroom during math and so many more ways. I can see students interacting with them during AR and independent reading as well.
These books will inspire and engage my students to think more deeply about the math topics and discussion we have during mini lesson. I know giving my students more opportunity to read is very important and to include topics related to math is that much more beneficial. The math literature will help solidify skills, strategies and ways in which my students think about math.
My students would enjoy the opportunity to have a math story incorporated into their mini lesson throughout the week. A read aloud in math would be the whip cream to their pie when it comes to workshop.I know these math stories will help meet my students needs when it comes to math.
