I teach all levels of physics from Conceptual Physics up to IB and Calculus based AP Physics. I love teaching and believe that students learn best when they experience hands on teaching. I use a modeling approach. With each new concept, students first perform an experiment where they collect data, graph it, analyze it and then develop their own model. The students compare results and agree upon a general model. I strive to help students understand the proportional reasoning behind these models and to understand concepts rather than just plugging in numbers. The students then use the models to solve application problems. At the end of the unit, students are given a real lab situation where they have to use their models to predict a real outcome. These are competitive and fun. Physics projects are interspersed throughout the year to apply concepts, encourage competition and maintain motivation.
