I work in an urban district that has limited technology resources. As each year passes, more and more technology is developed to help students build fluency in language arts, math, and other subject areas. Unfortunately, my classroom lacks the resources to benefit from these improvements. I have not had working computers since 2014 and the students do not necessarily have the resources at home. I feel that with the addition of Kindle Fires my students will have the opportunity to build their reading skills and addition/subtraction fluency in a way that will keep them engaged. It will also help master the skills they need in preparation for first grade.
