This year we're dedicating a portion of each school day to writing. The genres we'll be delving into are: personal narratives, informational articles, persuasive speeches, and fictional stories. The writing curriculum we're using has great strategies to create engaging pieces. My students need support in the area of writing conventions: specifically spelling and vocabulary. The word books I'm requesting have commonly used (by third-graders) words. Students would have their own copies conveniently located in their desks. I believe having the books in close proximity will greatly increase their willingness to double check if a word is spelled correctly. Additionally, each letter in the book has blank pages where students can create their own personalized word lists. My students have powerful ideas, opinions, and stories. Please help me to help them to get their voices out there and heard.
