These Lenovo Chromebooks are not a one and done deal. This classroom set will support students at our school for years to come. It is not an investment in Chromebooks, it is an investment in the future of the students of Harlem. Our students are at a constant disadvantage without access to computers on a daily basis. The students share stories of friends at schools who can access a computer as needed. We must request laptop usage a week in advance, and when we do receive them it often means that we are taking them from other classes that need to use the technology as well. This weekly battle over resources is one that students should not have to face in 2018.
As a Special Education teacher in a co-taught setting, I know that my students will thrive with everyday access to targeted technology. Using online programs such as Kurzweil and ThinkCERCA are great resources for students to support their learning. These resources provide students alternative methods to access materials that would otherwise be one or two grade levels above their current ability. Your donation will bring exciting and essential technological upgrades to our 7th graders.
