I teach 4th grade in an inner-city school with children from very low-income families. For many students their education has never been a top priority and this has caused them to fall behind in their learning. Year after year I have students that are reading well below grade level and all of the materials we offer are too difficult. I also have students that are reading above grade level and they get bored with the books that I have to offer because they are too easy.
