Most of the students I work with struggle. They have had to struggle against being devalued, and they struggle against coming from fractured families. They struggle against trauma, for some sudden and for some daily. And they struggle against feeling stuck in a lives with few options.
But struggle is good; it's good when compared to the alternative of giving up. The struggle is tougher now than ever and we have to work to make sure isolation, grief, and hopelessness don't overwhelm the students. The laptop requested will allow me to not only to more effectively review transcripts and develop schedules the students, but -- most important now -- it will enable me to have counseling sessions with my students without having to worry about connection difficulties.
