My students are excited for reading. I share my passion with my students everyday. One of the ways I do this is by reading some of my favorite books. One of my favorite picture books is "Rosie Revere, Engineer" by Andrea Beaty.
This book has a great message and inspires girls into STEM disciplines. I recently found out that the author is turning this picture book into a chapter book series. The first book is titled "Rosie Revere and the Raucous Riveters: The Questioneers Book #1." This book follows the picture book with the same characters. Not only does this book follow one of the students' favorite picture books, but also includes graphics.
Another plus is that the level of this book is lower level for fifth grade. We are always searching for books that will be high interest for our struggling readers. I truly believe that this book will engage all students in reading.
