Students in my classes enjoy looking through the children's books that I have and reading them. They are trying to acquire a new language and one of the best ways to do that is through reading and literacy. We do not have a library around the area that can help build this literacy in Spanish. It is very important that we have engaging, relative materials that are at the appropriate levels for them.
My students share an excitement and joy of reading and learning new words. They are avid, enthusiastic learners. They are also inquisitive, thoughtful, and creative. Our plan is to build a classroom library with content, age, and language appropriate books so that they can learn, explore, and acquire Spanish while doing and reading something that they enjoy.
