My students are in a transitional Kindergarten class in California. Most of the students are Spanish speaking. This is a pilot program for students who are born in the months of September through November. So these students are not ready for the regular Kindergarten program. These students still need time to develop the skills to cooperate with peers, control impulses, and role play with their peers. They attend a school that is in a low income area. Most of the students are on the free lunch program. Most of my students do not go outside and play with others because of their unsafe neighborhood, so I feel they are lacking social skills and imaginative play that is needed to promote development
