My students come from low income levels and one single parent. They are eager to come to school because they get fed and learn with their friends. They come to school with limited school supplies and empty stomachs. We live in the United States of America and students should not go hungry. This makes me sad and I can't feed them all but I try.
The pens and pencils are for my students to use in school and do their work. They usually say "Ms. I need a pencil" or " Ms. I'm hungry". I go out of my way to provide them what they need but is expensive since I am also a single mother with four children.
In addition, the computers will help me create work for my students to do at home. Most of them don't have computers at home and I would like to give them computers to take home and do work. Some of my students are English Learners and I want to take it step forward and help the parents learn with the students. I want to create a curriculum for the ELL to learn English with their parents. This is a new initiative that I want to implement in my school which will make parents involvement with teachers more productive, especially for Latino families. Each week two students will take home a computer to do their work and bring it back so other can use it to.
Please help me help my South Bronx students !
I love my student!
