Having access to tools and equipment that foster creativity and can be used to teach hands-on, real world skills is a welcome opportunity. This lathe will add new possibilities to the engineering and robotics programs. In engineering, students will be able to add manufacturing into the engineering design process. Working from idea to drawings to computer model to product, students will see their creations realized. Our robotics program will gain the ability to custom manufacture purpose-specific parts, greatly increasing our abilities, learning opportunities, and competitiveness.
Getting students to work with their hands teaches important skills and thought processes not always engaged in traditional classes.
