The book "The Unwanteds" is a Fantasy novel. The students are really into this type of reading. I would like to expose them to this book. Fans of Harry Potter will love this book. There are lessons about the importance of loyalty, compassion, creativity, and self-acceptance that will be used through Socratic circles. This will be a great book for discussions about discovering your own talents.
My students have been dying to read another fantasy novel! Through reading this book, students will address, ponder, and reflect on what the characters in the book are going through. Through classroom discussion to homework reflection, students will gain understanding, compassion, and empathy.
