The class receiving these materials is called AVID. The AVID program encourages students to go to college by teaching them organizational/study skills, requirements to reach university, and even teaching them how to fill out school and scholarship applications. AVID targets students who are individually driven and most likely the first one in their family to attend university. Students are often low income and on school lunch. The four academic components of AVID are WICR (writing, inquiry, collaboration, and reading). If we received these materials, this would complete the reading section of the course!
