As a first year teacher, I have very little supplies to help my students. I would like to be able to provide them with some basic supplies. I think it is important to keep the classroom hands-on and we try to do as few worksheets as possible, but with no worksheets, the need for alternative supplies can be found. I am in need of glue, crayons, highlighters, and pencils. The basic supplies that helps a classroom to run.
Centers are a huge part of the classroom. I would love to be able to include the magazines in the centers for students to read and engage in current events that are centered around their age level. In the centers, students find a hands on approach to vocabulary, spelling words, and they learn to interact with what they are reading. The Storyworks Magazine and the Time Magazine would be used during this center time and students would be able to read and respond to nonfiction current events. This is a skill that I would love to be able to practice effectively with my class.
