Some of our students find themselves somewhere on the Autism spectrum. When there are loud noises it is hard for our students to focus and/or feel safe and calm. Because some of our students are on the spectrum, some of them can become boisterous when unexpected events occur or when they are asked to engage in a non-preferred activity. Having the availability of noise cancelling headphones will allow our Beautiful Sunflowers to grow more peacefully and self regulate. The demarcation of colored squares on the classroom rug will help our Beautiful Sunflowers maintain personal space while they are expected to sit in close proximity during various learning activities. The calendar will help students with visual spatial learning challenges to gain experience with orienting themselves in time and space.
