The requested materials will be used in grades 1st through 5th in various projects designed to give students a tactile experience creating a gift for their family. In our downtown school in the city of Reading there are many children with emotional needs and not enough creative opportunities to fill them.
We need more Art! With limited district funds every year, many supplies are left off the art budget. Our amazing kids love art and I want to provide them with as many creative experiences as possible. Wire sculptures and clay sculptures have not happened for a few years in my school. Every year I order the basics of crayons, glue, paper, and pencils. There is often not enough money for some of the more exciting mediums. Clay and other sculpture supplies can make a big impact on a child's emotional needs by giving them a flexible material to work with.
