I am seeking funding for two iPads for my classroom. As a special educator, I see students with a wide range of abilities, which means every student is typically working on a different task.
iPads give my students the opportunity to practice math and literacy skills for their specific needs. Students would be learning a skill with the teacher and then using technology to practice that skill independently throughout the year. iPads are engaging, and with an endless supply of quality educational apps, students won’t become easily frustrated or bored with repeated practice.
Many of my students also struggle with speech and communication delays, which could be helped with the use of a communication app on the iPads. Giving my students the opportunity to communicate with adults and peers will increase their engagement and help them access their curriculum. Using an iPad for communication will allow students to form friendships and share ideas about what we are learning in the classroom, creating well-rounded, thoughtful young minds.
