My students will have a chance to be exposed to Asian culture through the reading of this book. The book describes many aspects of Asian culture throughout while telling the story of one girl's experience. It will allow them to see her experience through her eyes.
Many students in the United States are culturally unaware of other's ways of life. By providing them exposure, I hope to instill not only cultural awareness but empathy in them. I hope to allow them to open up their own world view of cultures other than their own. This project will provide those necessary elements to our curriculum.
