We raise and dissect salmon to better learn about genetics and adaptation. We spend hours observing the sun, moon and other celestial bodies to learn about our place in the universe. However, we only get to read about frequency, wavelength and amplitude to learn about sound. We want to include our ears.
This synthesizer in conjunction with a computer oscilloscope and sound equipment donations will allow our class to observe and manipulate sound waves.
The students will hear and sometimes feel the effect of frequency, wavelength and amplitude changes. Not to mention the difference between a sine, saw-tooth and square wave. The equipment will also be utilized in the lunchtime recording club that I have been working towards.
