Everyday my students and I meet in small groups to talk about new concepts and to share, practice, or review strategies that help them to excel in math or science. Since this is my first year teaching fifth grade math and science, I am still learning what works best for my learners. Meeting at the "Teacher Table" will allow three or four students at a time to work closely with me, which allows me to provide scaffolding, feedback, and guided practice. My students look forward to getting extra guidance during lessons and then, when they have gained independence in their learning, they return to their desks to continue working.
