We have been asked to complete a remediation program called I-Read. This is a 20 minute a day, 4 times a week program for students in my class that are reading below grade level. In order for them to do this, I need laptops in my class. I have no classroom laptops and the program requires it.
The I-Read program helps students improve reading by revisiting fundamental skills. It starts with letter recognition, followed by word recognition. Then it moves on to sight words, and sentences. The program is expertly designed to be a significant remediation program.
My children will not be able to complete this program without these Chromebooks. While teaching them to read happens daily, this program will reinforce and support what they are learning in an immeasurable way.
