I'll be honest, I've been teaching for over 25 years, and this idea of "Flexible Seating" was not really up my alley. It's always been easy to say, "Chairs have four legs for a reason, use them!" But as any good educator does, I never stop searching for ways to best reach my students and help improve their learning.
I've come to the understanding that the confines of a hard plastic chair is not the best way to reach the mind of a student. Plain and simple, by providing my students the option to use the Hokki Stool as part of my classroom flexible seating, I'm simply creating an environment that best suits their needs. And as the needs of my students become greater and more diverse, I too need to allow my options to become greater and more diverse.
