I am asking for a classroom set of headphones because both the kids and I find them as a useful tool from time to time in their learning. For disadvantaged kids who have not learned and/or mastered the early foundational skills necessary to read and comprehend difficult text on their own, I allow students from time to time to use headphones to have a text read aloud to them. I also try and provide students with different presentation formats, such as videos, for instruction. Lastly, some students who have a hard time focusing prefer to use headphones during independent work because they help to block out the noise and other distractions within the classroom.
