I am a fairly new art teacher at an underfunded public K-8 urban school. As a new teacher, my teaching library is nonexistent. My teaching philosophy aligns closely with TAB (Teaching for Artistic Behavior). In a TAB art classroom, it's important for students to have a variety of resources and media available for students to explore. My goal is to teach students how to think like an artist; which requires personal research, experimentation, imagination, and reflection.
With these new books, my students will be able to explore a variety of art media independently and collaboratively with their peers. Moreover, having a classroom library will allow their personal interests guide them.
