With over half of the school involved in band and orchestra, there are almost 200 instruments being used. Our school owns each instrument and there is simply not enough funding to support the upkeep and repair for each instrument. Some students are playing on brand new instruments while others are using broken instruments that are missing pieces or don't make a nice sound. A working instrument can make or break a student's musical experience.
This project will ensure equity in the classroom. With the supplies needed, we can make sure every student is playing on a quality instrument and can be successful in music. The violin and cello bows will be put to good use and replace bows that should have been retired. The mouthpieces will go to clarinets that have chipped and broken mouthpieces and the snare stand will hold a drum that is currently being played on a chair.
