My students are very eager to learn how to read! They are always saying, "Can we read this book?" or "Can we read during indoor recess?" They love, love, LOVE reading!
Reading at school and at home is vital to an early reader's development. 77% of students who are read to at home are more likely to pick up on reading skills earlier than those who don't. Students who are read to at home are also more likely to pick up on letters and sounds quicker than those who aren't read to.
I have started a Take Home Reading folder that they take home each day. They have a leveled reader (This is a book they can read independently) and an interest book (a book they pick that is categorized by theme. Their parents read this book to them each night) They get to change our their books every few days.
My classroom library is small right now. By donating to my classroom project, you will allow my library to grow and give my students more choices to pick from! They love Clifford and Pete the Cat books the most. This project will allow my students to have different choices throughout the entire year! Right now, my library is not big enough to last until May.
Thank you for donating to my classroom library project!! You will be making a huge difference in how my student's succeed in Reading!!
