There are many digital resources that my students could use to incorporate reading practice, but we do not have headphones. Headphones are necessary so that the students can work independently and without disturbing the other students. Our school has a high rate of poverty with more than 80% of the students receiving free and reduced lunch so asking for families to come up with money for headphones is not an option. Many of the programs are ability based which means that students can have differentiated instruction. Differentiation is an excellent way to meet each child where they are and help them gain skills at their level.
