The materials that I am requesting are going to make a huge difference in the day-to-day activities that go on within my classroom. Being one of the newer teachers in the school, there were no printers available for me to use if I needed to print out an activity for my students. This proved to be a challenge getting through the year without a common resource at my disposal.
While we utilize technology across multiple subjects and integrate it into academic instruction, it does not take away from the benefits that come from completing an activity on paper. This is especially important for students with disabilities who have difficulties concentrating because sometimes screens can be overstimulating and overwhelming. I try to balance the amount of time that we spend working on the computer and on iPads with our time completing activities on paper. I had been going to outside sources to complete my printing which was quite difficult, especially during busy times of year.
Writing and reading are key elements to effective learning, and when you don't have the ability to print it makes providing resources incredibly difficult.
This addition to our classroom will help me provide my students with a variety of printed activities that can benefit them across all subject areas and increase the art activities that we are able to complete in the classroom!
