As the college counselor, I meet with students weekly beginning in 11th grade to begin discussing all aspects of the college application process, including creating a college list, drafting a resume and researching financial aid options. As out students enter their Senior year, they are now faced with the challenge of submitting their college and scholarship applications.
Since most college applications are done online, my students struggle with accessing the technology necessary in order to complete them.
Many of my students do not have the technology at home that allows them to submit their college applications. As a result, they spend countless hours during and after school working on their applications and other components in the college office. My students use music as an outlet to not only express themselves but to destress as they work on important tasks regarding their college and future goals. Having this record player would allow my students to have that comforting outlet in my office as they go through the college application process, giving them a sense of comfort and safety that they would appreciate when working on stressful tasks.
