All students in our school district participate in a character education program called Crew. Crew facilitates strong relationships, adventure, teamwork, compassion, and academic success. As part of this program, we take our students on an annual ski trip to Buttermilk Mountain. This trip fosters adventure because it encourages students to get outside their comfort zone and it enables them to try something that may otherwise be financially prohibitive. The trip is also an anchor experience that we use to build character and relationships, and to help students achieve academic success throughout the remainder of the year.
Money raised through Ðǿմ«Ã½.org will go towards ski and snowboard lessons for students who cannot afford them.
The Aspen Skiing Company generously donates lift tickets and free equipment rentals, but many families cannot pay for lessons, which are required for the many students who have never skied or snowboarded. Typically, we take students who cannot afford lessons on a snowshoeing walk, while other kids ski or snowboard. This year, our goal is to allow every student the opportunity to ski or snowboard, regardless of their financial situation.
Your donation will make a difference in our students' lives because they will feel a greater sense of belonging if they are able to take a skiing lesson instead of being in the snowshoeing group. These students will be able to feel the wind on their face, the thrill of sliding on snow, and the simple pleasure of riding a chairlift with a friend. You can help make this a reality for our students!
