My students have autism and being able to go to a room or area and decompress is everything to them. For my students every day is a challenge; the slightest change in their day can bring on such high anxiety. Having a room or area where they can take some time to let it all go is exactly what they need. Having bean bags to sit in while reading a book, or just relaxing can be a life saver. For some of my other students having tactile objects such as the Magna-Tiles gives them the opportunity to distract their mind from what is upsetting them and just build. Also, the Liquid Tile floor mats will give my students a release until they are ready to continue their learning. It may not seem like it but you would be surprised at how the littlest things can just make their day.
