Fourth grade is the year when children become more independent and ready to face new and exciting challenges. They become part of the "upper elementary" school. Thus, they need to be encouraged to find answers to many questions on their own. With the non fiction books, students can go from reading to being engaged in a brand new experience.
I would like my students to change from learners to leaders by having them be enriched by non fiction books. They will be able to read, discover facts, investigate and formulate their own opinions.
By having such books, my students can do their own research and discover the world around them. This would help them to open up their imagination and be a part of the "outside world." I don't have many non fiction books in my classroom library. This will help me to engage my young readers’ minds and guide them on a journey of discovery.
