This year I will be teaching Dual Language Immersion (DLI) for third grade. If you are not familiar with DLI, it is a K-12 program of bilingual education in which students (of any background) learn content in two languages. In addition, this program also allows students to become bi-literate​ and enhances their awareness of linguistic and cultural diversity. I will be teaching, along with my English partner teacher, about 35 students. In my class, students read daily in order to develop strong reading habits. This project will help fund a classroom library of books in Spanish for students to enjoy. I strongly believe reading is a key factor for academic success. The books listed cater to all reading levels. I know my students will benefit from a diversified classroom library since literature is a crucial part of learning a new language.
