The use of calculators is a daily activity in my math class and students will use them to solve everyday real life problems. These essential tools are a classroom resource that will help increase rigor in my classroom, provide an opportunity for more meaningful learning, and build student confidence as they tackle problems with a higher level of difficulty. Unfortunately, I do not have enough calculators for students to use on a daily basis due to them malfunctioning and they need replaced. Each student needs one in their hand to help them reach their highest potential in my class.
Donating to my project will help improve my students understanding of the topic and increase their academic growth in math. The calculators will be used in a variety of ways in my classroom. They will be used to solve problems in topics such as ratios, proportions, equations, inequalities, probability, and statistics. The calculators allow for whole group instructions, whiteboard activities, and math computer programs which allows more technology to be used in the classroom. Funding these calculators will help save time so that my students can dig deeper into the common core standards and understand the proper way to enter complex problems.
