Classroom touch screen iPads will allow my severely disabled students to access online curriculum, voice their needs and gain independence! Several of my students are non verbal or have speech challenges. An iPad would be a amazing asset, allowing my students to communicate their wants and needs via communication apps. All of my students need hand over hand guidance to write. Classroom iPads would allow me to fully run a Handwriting Without Tears program, which teaches independent handwriting. A critical life skill. With iPads, my students would also be able to access their special education curriculum, News 2 You. News 2 You gives my students access to current event articles written in icons instead of words. News 2 You makes the students feel connected to the world, which can be a challenge for many of my handicap kiddos. Classroom iPads would also connect my students to Touch Math apps to support our math program. Touch Math teachs not only math, but also teaches Touch Time and Touch Money, in a way my students understand. Numbers, time and money are also critical life skills! Classroom iPads would facilitate learning and life skills this population would so greatly benefit from.
