This study cruise program will enable students to learn about oceanography with actual observations and experiences aboard a floating laboratory on the San Diego Bay. In addition, it will provide an opportunity for students to study marine organisms in their offshore habitat as well as to increase their content knowledge of the marine environment. Some examples of the activities that students will participate in are investigating the physical ocean environment and testing the water turbidity, analyzing water temperature at different levels, and examining the water color scale. Furthermore, students will have the chance to explore the ocean's biological properties through net collection and analysis, marine observations, and the study of benthic invertebrates.
